Syberia I:

A journey of discovery and understanding, inspired from a bygone era... Kate Walker, a young and brilliant lawyer from New York, has come to Europe to negotiate the purchase a famous Robot/Toy factory, but will soon have her future completely turned upside down.

The owner of the factory, Anna Voralberg, has just died. The Heir to the factory, Anna's brother, Hans, who is a genius inventor, has been missing for decades, lost somewhere between the Alps and Siberia. Kathe must find this enigmatic man to finalise the deal. But, in her journey from the West to the East, she will progressively discover and understand the reasons, which have made Hans, leave his family and never return.

Story

The lawyer Kate Walker has been entrusted by the Universal Toy Company to negotiate the takeover of an old luxury toy and automaton factory. Over the centuries, the factory has been developing clockwork devices, specializing in perpetual mechanical movement.

The factory's ambitions, however, are ill-suited to the contemporary economic climate, and the elderly Anna Voralberg, at the helm of the Valadilene factory for more than half a century, has decided to sell up.

It turns out that the takeover might not be as straightforward as expected. The day that Kate Walker arrives, Anna Voralberg is being buried. What is more is that she has left an heir - her brother Hans. But Hans had left the valley at the end of the thirties and never returned, and was actually believed to be dead.

However, a letter written by Anna in the days leading up to her death reveals that Hans is well and truly alive and living somewhere in? Siberia! Valadilene's elderly notary entrusted to take care of Anna's affairs suggests that Anna find Hans Voralberg as he is now the only person in a position to ratify the sale of the family business.

The player will take on the role of the heroine, Kate Walker, as she sets out on her long journey eastwards, encountering cities along the way bearing the mark of Hans' genius, cities that still exude the bygone days of the twentieth century in so many different ways.

Together, through mystical and enchanting lands, they will find their way to the mythical Syberia, land of the forgotten mammoths. Thus Syberia II begins?

The train leaves Aralbad under a quiet snowfall. Kate, Hans and Oscar, the loyal, humorous automaton, are heading to Romansbourg, the first of the four worlds to be explored in Syberia II.

The motley crew will clear the last bastions of Russian civilization followed by the Frozen North before arriving at Youkol Village, from where they will try to reach their final destination: Syberia. Along the way, they will have to overcome many obstacles and deal with shady characters to uncover clues vital to the continuation of their quest. Kate's timeless journey through Valadilene, Barrockstadt, Komkolzgrad and Aralbad has sparked an evolution in her character, from an ambitious lawyer to a curious and tenacious adventuress.

Kate's role has undergone a remarkable change. From being the pursuant, she becomes Han's main acolyte, his support in attaining the forgotten realm of the mammoths. How will she react to this new situation? Can she live up to the choices she made?
