1. All-American Co-Ed
This Oscar nominated musical comedy centers on the rivalry of two colleges, all-male Quinceton University and all-female Marr Brynn University. After some Marr Brynn students gets some publicity by insulting Quinceton University, some fraternity brothers plan to get revenge. They have one of their frat brothers enroll at the all-girl school, disguised as a woman, with hopes to have him enter their annual beauty pageant. Things get complicated when our hero falls in love with the co-ed in charge of the show.

2. Breakfast in Hollywood
The goings on of a few members of a radio show's audience is the premise for this feature film derived from the popular ABC radio show of the 1940's. This film features Tom Breneman, the radio show's host, as well as Bonita Granville, Beulah Bondi, ZaSu Pitts, Billie Berke and Hedda Hopper. Musical performances are provided by Nat King Cole and the King Cole Trio along with Spike Jones and his City Slickers.

3. Calendar Girl
This Republic musical focuses on a New York City boarding house in which reside aspiring actors, dancers and artists trying to make it big. A songwriter becomes upset when his girlfriend becomes the model for an artist living next door. This title features several musical numbers performed by Jane Frazee, William Marshall, Janet Martin and Kenny Baker.

4. Career Girl
Frances Langford is the star of this PRC musical about a Kansas City girl wishing to make it big on Broadway. Joan Terry (Langford) arrives in New York and settles down in a theatrical boarding house filled with others trying to find their way onto the stage. In spite of the efforts of Terry's fianc? to prevent her from achieving her dream in hopes that she would return home to him, Terry lands a lead role in a musical that becomes the hit of the Broadway season.

5. Delightfully Dangerous
The musical comedy is the tale of two sisters, Cheryl (Jane Powell) and Josephine (Constance Moore). Cheryl is a 15-year-old music student with aspirations to make it big on the stage just like her older sister Josephine. Unbeknownst to her, Josephine is not a Broadway singing star but a burlesque performer. Encouraged by tales of her sister's success by a visiting Broadway producer, Cheryl pays a surprise visit to Josephine in New York and discovers the truth.

6. Dixiana
A circus performer becomes the center of affections for two men in this RKO musical starring Bebe Daniels. Dixiana (Daniels) is loved by a plantation owner's son and she loves him but she is also coveted by a crooked gambler who also is looking to swindle the plantation away from the family. Add to this romantic triangle the comedic talents of Wheeler & Woolsey and the first time on screen performance of Bill "Bojangles" Robinson and you've got a winner.

7. Doll Face
Based upon a play by Gypsy Rose Lee, "Doll Face" is the story of a burlesque star who aspires to fame as a Broadway performer. Her manager/boyfriend suggests her to increase her legitimacy by also writing an autobiography. This film is filled with musical numbers highlighting the talents of Vivian Blaine, Dennis O'Keefe, Perry Como and Carmen Miranda.

8. Fabulous Dorseys
This musical biographic tells the true story of bandleaders extraordinaire, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. From their humble beginnings in a small Pennsylvania town to their rise to the top, this film covers many aspects of their lives in an entertaining and enjoyable way. Musical performances included in this feature are done by Paul Whiteman, Charlie Barnet, Art Tatum, Bob Eberly, Helen O'Connell and Ziggy Elman.

9. Fiesta
With a tagline of "It's Terrific! It's Technicolorful! It's Gay!" this LeRoy Prinz directed musical comedy had high expectations when released by Hal Roach Studios. Though short on running time, this film was long on musical production numbers with room left over for a romantic entanglement. The plot takes you to the Mexican ranch owned by Don Hernandez (Antonio Moreno), whose niece Cholita (Anne Ayers) is returning home from Mexico City. Her return brings the expectation of marriage to her childhood sweetheart, local caballero Jose (George Negrete). However, Cholita arrives with a new fianc? in tow: the pompous radio star Fernando Gomez portrayed by George Givot. With the stance that physical violence is beneath him, Jose schemes to frighten Fernando off the ranch back to Mexico City and win back Cholita.

10. Glorifying the American Girl
This Ziegfeld production centers on a young girl's dream to make it to Broadway as a Follies girl. After leaving home for New York City, our starlet works at the music sheet counter of a department store where she is discovered by a vaudeville dancer looking for a partner. This begins her journey to fame and fortune. This film features numerous cameos during the final show including Ring Lardner, Mayor Jimmy Walker, Adolph Zukor as well as Flo Ziegfeld and his wife Billie Burke.

11. Let's Go Collegiate
This musical comedy centers on two members of a team of college oarsmen who promise their girlfriends they will win the big race. Hopes of their victory appear to be dashed when the team's best oarsman is drafted. The pair decides to help their cause by recruiting a truck driver to replace their missing crew member and pass him off as a collegian.

12. Minstrel Man
Minstrel Man is an Oscar nominated musical drama about the rise, fall and redemption of Dixie Boy Johnson. Johnson, portrayed by veteran vaudevillian Benny Fields, has worked his way to the top of Broadway via the minstrel shows. Unfortunately, on the opening night of what was to become his biggest hit ever, his wife dies while giving birth to his daughter. Upset by this tragic event, Johnson leaves the show and his career, places his daughter in the care of some trusted friends and disappears. Johnson's daughter grows up to be an attractive young woman named Caroline (Judy Clark), who decides to become a Broadway performer like her father. Using the name of Dixie Girl Johnson, Caroline embarks on her career which leads to a tearful reunion with her long-lost father.

13. People Are Funny
This musical comedy's plot concerns the race between two radio program producers who both wish to land a huge sponsor for their proposed shows. Pinky Wilson (Jack Haley) has a show concept he's sure will work but, he only have half-rights to the idea. His rival Frances Langford (Ozzie Nelson) has plans of his own and wants to prevent Pinky from getting the sponsorship. Rudy Vallee portrays the sponsor, Helen Walker is the love interest and Art Linkletter reprises his role from the actual radio program as the radio show host.

14. Rhythm in the Clouds
This musical comedy centers on a down-on-her luck songwriter. Desperate and hungry, she fakes a letter of admittance into the building where a rich composer resides. Once inside, she finds the composer is out of town and makes herself at home in his apartment. Things go well for her until the composer returns to find the young woman and his residence in disarray.

15. Second Chorus
Danny O'Neill (Fred Astaire) and Hank Taylor (Burgess Meredith) have spent seven years together in a college band. These two friendly but rival musicians aspire to join the famous Artie Shaw Orchestra. Through the efforts of their band manager and attention of their affection Ellen Miller (Paulette Goddard), Danny and Hank make it to the big time. Music and a few dance numbers from Astaire make this an enjoyable musical comedy.

16. Sing, Cowboy, Sing
Tex and his sidekick Duke are just in time to help a damsel in distress. A ruthless killer named Kalmus and his gang murders Summers, a freight company owner, in an effort to steal his valuable contract. When our intrepid duo steps in to help the valiant Madge keep the freight line running, the villain gets the Judge to put them in jail.

17. Sitting on the Moon
Danny West (Roger Pryor), a songwriter, and Polly Blair (Grace Bradley), a fading movie star are in love with each other. In a move to help Blair's career, West breaks up his partnership with lyricist Mike (William Newell), who in turn finds romance with Blair's friend Mattie (Pert Kelton). In hopes to re-establish his partnership with West, Mike contrives to have a blonde seductress pretend to be his sweetheart, thus tearing West away from Blair. Everything works out in the end for all in this romantic comedy filled with musical production numbers.

18. Swing Hostess
This musical features Martha Tilton as Judy Alvin, an unemployed swing-band singer who finds work as a switchboard operator at a juke box company. While working at the switchboard, she meets and falls for a handsome bandleader. This romance leads her back to the stage as the lead singer for her beau's band.

19. Till The Clouds Roll By
This Technicolor musical is loosely based upon the life of composer Jerome Kern. The film tells of Kern's struggles to break into writing songs for Broadway, his moving to London for the sake of his work and his eventual triumph on Broadway as the composer of one of the biggest musicals ever, Show Boat. Featured performers include Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Dinah Shore, Van Johnson, Cyd Charisse, Lena Horne, June Allyson, Tony Martin, Kathryn Grayson, Virginia O'Brien, Ray McDonald, Angela Lansbury, Gower Champion, and Lucille Bremer.

20. Trocadero
Two young people a nightclub that's on the brink of bankruptcy in this musical from the 1940's. Resolved to bring the nightclub back as a success, the duo instill some of their youthful energy into the place. They start signing a variety of entertaining acts and some exciting jazz performers. Through their efforts, the young couple makes a success of the club and save it from closing.
